God wants His family back
I’m a part of Gods family, now what?
- Next steps
- Nobody wants to stay at the starting line. Skeet shooting.
- Follow scripture.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 ESV
16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God[b] may be complete, equipped for every good work.
- Seek Him.
Mathew 7:7-11 ESV
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? 11 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!
- 10/10 principle
- Be blunt in asking
- Don’t be shy your seeking
- Be persistent in your knocking
- Be baptized.
Mathew 3:13-17 ESV
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. 14 John would have prevented him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?” 15 But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented. 16 And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him,[c] and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; 17 and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son,[d] with whom I am well pleased.”
- Christ Himself was baptized
- We are to live in the likeness of Jesus
1 Peter 2:21 ESV
21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.
- Prior to this verse it talks about suffering for Christ.
- Following this verse it talks about the purity of Christ.
- The idea is that Christ lived an example for us to follow.
Romans 6:1-4 ESV
1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.
- Baptism is a big deal, it’s when you publicly are connected with Christ.
- His death to the flesh.
- His life to a new life.
- Tell everyone you know what you know.
Mathew 28:18-20 ESV
18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[b] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
- Jesus was very clear in the plan He left for the disciples to carry out.
- Disciple = One who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another.
- Baptizing those who believe.
- Teaching what Jesus has taught you.
- He will be with us in the process.
2 Timothy 2:1-2 ESV
